PRIMARY FUNCTION:  To deliver a variety of high-quality, competency-based industrial maintenance training opportunities within the Industrial Maintenance Flex Lab, including customized training for industry clients; develop and maintain industry-aligned curriculum; support workforce pipeline and incumbent worker training; and actively engage industry partners to ensure training relevance, safety, and program growth.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Deliver high-quality instruction in an open-entry/open-exit Industrial Maintenance Flex Lab, providing individualized, hands-on technical training and skill verification.
  2. Develop, revise, and maintain curriculum aligned with current industry standards and workforce needs.
  3. Assess student competencies and document progress toward completion, certifications, and employment readiness.
  4. Engage local industry partners to ensure training is relevant and of value, including participation in advisory input and workforce alignment discussions.
  5. Develop both daytime and evening open enrollment courses in specialty areas to offer to the general public based on regional workforce demand.
  6. Obtain and maintain industry certifications required to instruct classes in specialty areas. Expand knowledge base to develop new class offerings.
  7. Support the development and delivery of apprenticeship programs, including related technical instruction (RTI) as applicable.
  8. Maintain a safe, organized, and professional lab environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and proper equipment usage.
  9. Identify equipment needs and work with leadership to ensure all necessary training equipment and supplies are available, operational, and aligned with industry standards.
  10. Serve as a liaison to industry groups, including serving as a board member with the Oklahoma Predictive Maintenance Users Group (OPMUG), and coordinate related training opportunities.
  11. Develop cost-effective strategies in fees/tuition, instructor salaries, and room scheduling to support program sustainability and growth.
  12. Maintain professional competence by participating in relevant professional development, staying informed on technological trends, and monitoring industry changes affecting business and industry training to identify partnership opportunities.
  13. Keep informed of and interpret laws, regulations, statutes, rules, and policies affecting the training programs being offered.
  14. Prepare and submit reports and required documentation for Workforce & Economic Development leadership including enrollment, completion, and industry credential data.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.  Industry technical certifications in industrial maintenance, PLCs, electrical, hydraulics, or related areas are strongly preferred.

SKILLS:            

  • Strong technical expertise in industrial maintenance systems, including mechanical, electrical, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Competent in maintaining a safe, organized lab environment and ensuring compliance with OSHA and district safety regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competent in designing and delivering competency-based, hands-on technical instruction
  • Skilled in developing and updating industry-aligned curriculum

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of three years of experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, automation, or related technical environments.  Experience delivering training, instruction, or workforce development programs is preferred.  Prior work with apprenticeships, open-entry/open-exit labs, or industry partnerships is desirable.  

 

PHYSICAL FACTORS:

  • Position is based in Enid, OK
  • Position requires work in multiple environments, including classrooms setting and industrial flex lab. 
  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, feeling, hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, field of vision (naturally or with correction), isolation, and eye-hand coordination.  Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situations in which working with speed and sustained attention are critical aspects of the job.
  • Environmental conditions may include exposure to hazardous materials, industrial machinery, varying temperatures, moderate to loud noise levels, dust, and industrial air quality conditions.
